ICC Under-19 World Cup: India defeat South Africa in warm-up match
India look in good shape ahead of the start of the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup, as they dominated South Africa by 189 runs in their first warm-up game at the Christ’s College in Christchurch on Tuesday.India won the toss and were lead by a commanding 138-run fourth-wicket partnership between Aryan Juyal and Himanshu Rana. The pair came together when India was tottering at 61/3, after the fall of skipper Prithvi Shaw (16 off 30), Manjot Karla (31 off 40) and Shubman Gill for a duck.WATCH VIDEOAryan Juyal scored 86 off 92 and Himanshu Rana played his part with a blistering 68 off 69 balls, were supplemented by host of middle and lower-midle order batsmen to take India’s total to a competitive 332/8 in 50 overs.Akhona Mnyanka and Thando Ntini shared five wickets each for South Africa on either side of the partnership.In the South African innings, India fast bowler Ishan Porel ripped through their top-order with a four-wicket haul, giving away just 23 runs. After shining with the bat, a useful 35-run knock, Abhishek Sharma returned with two wickets even as the 2014 champions were dismissed for 143 runs in 38.3 overs.For South Africa, Jean du Plessis fought a lone battle while scoring 50 off 82 balls. India, who are have won the tournament most number of times along with the Aussies, are in Group B with Australia, Zimbabwe and East Asia Pacific qualifier Papua New Guinea.The three-time champions will open their campaign against Australia on January 14 in Christchurch. They will next face Papua New Guinea on January 16 and Zimbabwe on January 19.
