SummaryIn conclusion, today’s cloud environments require modern data center management approaches like CloudIQ – which acts like a fitness tracker for your storage. Like any machine-learning technology, it gets smarter over time and will continue to update your baseline metrics and measure anomalies against it. We’re committed to covering even more platforms in the future and will continue to innovate in the areas of simplicity and accessibility.CloudIQ is completely free for Dell EMC storage customers, and if you want an immediate “test drive,” Dell EMC Customers can access a full simulator here. Trusted Advisor Lets Engineers Join Your CommunityOne feature that has recently gotten a lot of traction with our thousands of connected customers is the trusted advisor role. The trusted advisor role is a delegated permission to allow sales, support, and partner engineers to join a customer’s community and be able to see their CloudIQ dashboards and provide valuable expertise and advice. Why would someone grant their Dell EMC engineer or your favorite partner engineer access to their CloudIQ dashboards?Experience and Insight. For some people, detailed performance charts can be daunting, and it can be hard to fully understand exactly what to look for. But in the hands of a trained professional, there is a story to be told! The CloudIQ team has been working hard to delight our customers by delivering a smarter, cloud-enabled storage health management system for Dell EMC customers, partners, and support teams. Customers love it because there’s no subscription, no software to install, and therefore no hassles.Thousands of customers are using CloudIQ today to analyze and gain instant insights into their storage health – it’s like a fitness tracker for Dell EMC Storage. We’re collecting millions of data points per day to aggregate, analyze and share what we’re learning from the world’s largest storage install base.Today we’re happy to announce expanded support across our Dell EMC portfolio, a new CloudIQ mobile app (iPhone & Android), and VMware visibility capabilities.Expanded Storage Support Across PowerMax, VMAX, SC Series, and XtremIOCloudIQ is happy to announce expanded support for Dell EMC PowerMax, Dell EMC VMAX, Dell EMC SC Series, as well as Dell EMC XtremIO – all rolling out within the next few weeks. CloudIQ is the one place that will let you view your storage health across all of your systems and allow you to track historical storage health scores.CloudIQ will be generally available for these systems – for free – as soon as the next service pack or code release for the storage systems supports it. Here’s a handy guide to when things should be available:Dell EMC Unity: available since May 2016Dell EMC SC Series: available July 24th (SCOS 7.3)Dell EMC XtremIO: coming in September 2018Dell EMC VMAX: coming in September 2018Dell EMC PowerMax: coming in September 2018CloudIQ – There’s An App for That We’re also very excited about our new mobile app. Even without a mobile app, CloudIQ makes it simple for anyone with a browser to connect to cloudiq.dellemc.com and understand their storage health. But now we’ve made storage health even more accessible with a new mobile app available for iPhone and Android. This will be available in the next month and can show your storage health across all of your connected systems – right from the palm of your hand.VMware Visibility With the latest CloudIQ virtualization enhancements – which get rolled out to everyone for free – CloudIQ not only shows storage objects, but also sees their associated virtual machines – providing administrators and trusted advisors better visibility into a sophisticated VM infrastructure. For those needing more insight into their VMware environment, they can gather performance metrics and capacity information at the VM level. Now you can find out which virtual machines are overwhelmed, which ones have spare capacity / performance, and which ones have had performance anomalies over time.
Any technology strategy should be based on what customers are looking for. Dell Technologies has long listened to customers, understanding their needs and defining our strategy, products and solutions to address them. The definition and the usage of the term cloud has been hotly debated for the past decade, changing significantly over the years from access to computing resources over the internet to now reflecting an operating model designed to help IT. One that is agile and delivers IT as a service, while reducing costs through efficiencies, and managing risk, regardless of locality. And now, one that can consistently manage cloud operations from on premises to cloud instances off premises in multiple public clouds – out to the edge – all from a single location.According to IDC, the largest data center challenge companies currently face is developing a multi-cloud strategy with more than 70 percent of companies using more than one type of cloud environment. Companies are running multiple cloud environments to optimize application and data performance in the context of a much larger IT ecosystem, which introduces another set of challenges with inconsistent operations and management across on and off-premises clouds.Enter Dell Technologies, the operational hub of the hybrid multi-cloud future…TODAY…delivered through best-in-class software, infrastructure, services and solutions – including the acquisition and consumption of cloud that enables flexibility in planning the right mix of public, private, hybrid clouds customers need now and in the future. We’re helping companies manage the totality of their hybrid multi-cloud assets from a single operational hub hosted on our multi-cloud platform, which seamlessly combines Dell EMC infrastructure and VMware software that includes support of multiple public clouds, private cloud and traditional on-premises infrastructure. Dell’s broad array of consultative and implementation services and solutions complement this core cloud operating environment with security solutions and services, data management and protection solutions. Our approach places our customers at the center of their cloud operations, offering consistency of operations and singular management across bare metal on-premises IT to multiple cloud instances. You may be asking how we do this today. First, it’s the result of the Dell Technologies family of businesses innovating to deliver solutions that help customers with their digital transformations. For example, there’s VMware, the core operational platform that centralizes management and orchestration software to define and bind together the hybrid multi-cloud environment across server, storage and network. This becomes the foundation for solutions including VxRail and VxBlock that can be combined with solutions like VMC on AWS and the broader VMware Cloud Provider Program (VCPP) ecosystem. Pivotal builds and manages cloud-native applications. And Boomi provides a data integration platform as a service offering programmable information mobility and transformation across a multi-hybrid cloud environment supporting hundreds of cloud-based and on premises applications and platforms.Put all of this together with Dell EMC’s world-class infrastructure, within the Dell EMC Cloud Marketplace, with the best performance and tightest integration for VMware environments along with partners like AWS, Azure, Google and Virtustream on this multi-cloud journey. It’s the platform of choice for customers looking to solve their cloud operational challenges.Bottom line, customers tell us they want control of their IT closer to “home.” This validates our point of view that customers’ cloud strategies should pull data and applications out of silos, to enable a hybrid, multi-cloud environment that speeds decision-making. Dell Technologies is uniquely positioned to help customers solve their data challenges and be in a position to take advantage of the intelligent world we’re moving toward.
TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — China is trying to spread doubt about the effectiveness of Western vaccines and the origin of the coronavirus as a World Health Organization-selected team of scientists is in the city where the pandemic began. Controls imposed on information about the disease by the ruling Communist Party have prompted questions about what the scientists will be allowed to see. As vaccines roll out worldwide, Beijing appears to be trying to blunt the impact of reports that China’s are less effective. Chinese officials, trying to deflect criticism of their response, have also raised an unsubstantiated theory that it came from a U.S. military lab.
NEW YORK (AP) — Johnson & Johnson’s one-dose vaccine seems to protect against COVID-19, but not as well as some two-shot rivals.
DENVER (AP) — Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado is already a partisan lightning rod in Washington. That’s a big break from the history of her sprawling district. The mostly rural area has usually leaned right, but not overwhelmingly. Its representatives have traditionally been staid and focused on quiet results rather than headlines. But that tradition may be coming to an end both in Colorado and in an increasingly divided country. Boebert says her “constituents are tired of the old go along to get along we often see in politicians.” Democrats are already recruiting challengers to run against her in 2022.
